Kristin Bradley, MD

I am a professor of radiation oncology in the Department of Human Oncology. In my clinical practice, I specialize in treating patients with gynecologic, hematologic and pediatric malignancies. I have a very busy brachytherapy practice. I work closely with gynecologic oncologists, hematologists, pediatric oncologists, radiologists and other specialists to best meet my individual patients’ needs.

In addition to my clinical practice, I am the Radiation Oncology Residency Program director. I also am involved with teaching medical students and undergraduates. Fellows from gynecologic oncology and pediatric oncology work with me on clinical rotations yearly.

I perform clinical research, primarily in the area of gynecologic radiation oncology, but I also have served as the principal investigator for a Children’s Oncology Group study on pediatric pontine gliomas.

Sushil Beriwal, MD, MBA

Sushil Beriwal, MD, MBA is professor of radiation oncology and residency program director at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. He specializes in breast, gynecological and prostate cancer and has published over 250 articles in major medical journals and served on editorial boards and review panels for multiple international and national scientific journals. His primary focus is image based brachytherapy and promotes use of brachytherapy through research and education. He has been very active in various education courses organized by ABS, ASTRO and ACRO.

David Gaffney, MD, PhD

David Gaffney’s main research interests are in clinical trial development, prognostic markers, radiation sensitizers, and secondary cancers. He is an active clinician and specializes in the radiotherapeutic management of gynecological cancers, breast cancers, and lymphoma. Dr. Gaffney is interested in clinical trials that improve survival and quality of life for cancer patients. He serves as a co-Chair for the National Cancer Institute Gynecologic Cancer Steering Committee and previously was chair of the Gynecologic Working Group for the Radiation Therapy Oncology Group (RTOG). He is a past chair of the American Brachytherapy Society and the Cervix Cancer Research Network. He is active in the Gynecologic Cancer Intergroup, a worldwide organization of clinical trial groups. He also chairs the Clinical Research Executive Committee at the Huntsman Cancer Institute and serves as a Senior Editor for the International Journal of Gynecologic Cancer, Gynecologic Oncology, and the American Journal of Clinical Oncology, and Brachytherapy.

Catheryn Yashar, MD, FACRO, FABS, FACR, FASTRO

Dr. Catheryn Yashar is a Professor and Assistant Vice-Chair of Clinical Affairs. She is Chief of the Breast Cancer Section and a member of the Gynecologic Cancer Treatment Team. She is also Chief of Staff of the UC San Diego Medical Center.An internationally-recognized radiation oncologist in the treatment of breast and gynecologic cancers, Dr. Yashar has a particular expertise in the use of novel brachytherapy approaches in these disease sites. She is on the Board of Chancellors of the American College of Radiation Oncology (ACRO) and is a past President of the American Brachytherapy Society (ABS). She is the Senior Editor (Gynecologic Cancers) for Gynecology for Advances, and an Gynecologic Cancer Editor of the on-line journal Up-to-Date. She is also an Editor of the Principles and Practice of Gynecologic Oncology, the premier textbook in Gynecologic Oncology. She has published over 100 journal articles, reviews and book chapters, focused on gynecologic malignancies, breast cancer and brachytherapy.

Dr. Yashar serves on multiple Medical School and Hospital Committees, having chaired the Medical School Curriculum Committee, the Moores Cancer Committee, the Credentialing Committee and the Council on Education Policy. A frequent invited speaker at national and international cancer symposia, she has been named a Top Doctor by the San Diego Magazine multiple times. She has been named a fellow of the American College of Radiation Oncology (ACRO), American Brachytherapy Society (ABS), American College of Radiology (ACR) and the American Society of Radiation Oncology (ASTRO).
