For the past eight years, have been involved in the establishment and implementation of Strategic Action Plans for Control of Radiation Sources and lecturer. Lead regulatory controls and inspections. Course and Finance Director for one (01) month Regional Training course on Regulatory Infrastructure. Did Quality Control on Radiological Machines and calibration of machines for occupational, patients and environmental dosimetric monitoring. Written over 20 scientific papers for conferences and journals on Medical Radiation Safety, Nuclear Security and presented papers and posters. Liaison Officer for the IAEA IRRS mission; in charge of coordination of Advanced reference materials and SARIS reports. Plan information system and develop regulatory framework with respect to international standards. Fully participated in the establishment of procedures for authorization, inspection, quality assurance and dosimetry service activities. Trained radiation exposed workers on international safety standards. Lectured Radiological courses for technologists at University Institute for Biomedical Sciences.

He is a DGMP board certified Medical Physicist working in the Department of Radiation Oncology at Ortenau Klinikum Offenburg, Germany. Ernest Okonkwo is a member of MephidA e.V (Medical Physics in the diaspora for Africa) and is involve in many other international and professional organizations especially towards helping with the disparities in radiation oncology in Africa. Professional interests are: Treatment planning, Dosimetry and Quality assurance in radiation oncology, Brachytherapy, Radiobiology, and Radiation protection.

Taofeeq A. Ige, PhD

Dr. Taofeeq Abdallah IGE is a Chief Consultant Physicist at the National Hospital, Abuja (The Federal Capital of Nigeria) and the immediate past Head of the Department (HoD) of Medical Physics in the Hospital. He is also a visiting Senior Lecturer in Medical Physics in a couple of universities in the country.  He is an examiner in Physics to the Faculty of Radiology of both West African College of Surgeons (WACS) and the National Post-Graduate Medical College of Nigeria (NPMCN) and also a national and regional counterpart to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) projects. He had also participated in a number of medical physics and radiation safety assignments as a World Health Organization (WHO) consultant.  He has contributed to some IAEA publications and has some book chapters to his credit as well as a sizable number of peer-reviewed articles in reputable journals both within and outside the country. Dr Taofeeq Ige is the Secretary-General of the Nigerian Association of Medical Physicists (NAMP) and the pioneer Secretary-General of the Federation of African Medical Physics Organization (FAMPO) – the youngest regional body of the International Organization of Medical Physics (IOMP) as well as committee member of the IOMP (Awards and Honours Committee), including the Health Technology Task Group of the International Union of Physical and Engineering Sciences in Medicine (HTTG-IUPESM).
