Age
  76
Diagnosis
carcinoma of left true vocal cord
Imaging
CT showed asymmetric thickening and irregularity of the left true vocal cord and obliteration of the paraglottic fat plane between the vocal cord and the adjacent thyroid cartilage. There was no visible erosion or sclerosis of the thyroid cartilage, although there was asymmetric sclerosis of the left arytenoid cartilage when compared with the right. No pathologic-appearing lymphadenopathy was seen.
Pathology
squamous cell carcinoma in situ; cannot exclude invasive squamous cell carcinoma
Stage
  III(T3 N0 M0)
Overall Oncology Management Plan
Surgery (biopsy)
Direct laryngoscopy with biopsy (pathology as above, although clinical findings consistent with invasive disease). Findings: lesion involving the left true vocal cord was transglottic, extending from the false vocal cord, across the true vocal cord, and into the subglottis. It extended from the arytenoid posteriorly to the anterior commisure anteriorly.
